Publication Plans – 2024

For those anxiously awaiting for these publications to return (and those who are not) I will outline briefly my plans for the future.

Regular online writing involves two important things that might be more difficult than the writing itself. First, it consists of the technical aspects of getting an article from a desktop application to the many different publication platforms available on the Internet. The second consists of accurately profiling the audience and writing material meaningful to them. Most of what you read and see on the Internet seems to come from an echo chamber. Each producer wants to assert his point of view with little consideration for the audience and how they think.

I know I have set a high bar for myself, but I will make every effort to make this content meaningful for you. I do not consider this a debate but a dialogue. I want to give you content to help you think about what you see and hear.

Thinking & Dialogue

Before I begin regular publications, I will outline some thinking and learning tools I plan to use frequently on these platforms. After describing these tools in blog format, I will post those descriptions in a location to which I can make frequent references.

The Learning Progression

Learning progresses through three general phases. I will describe those phases and how I plan to use them in future articles.

The Austrian Method

The Austrian School of Economics uses a methodology that helps a person understand how market forces operate. Keeping it simple and reason-based helps a person separate economic reasoning from meaningless chatter.

Deductive Logic

One of the tools used in the Austrian method consists of deductive logic. Although many people believe they think logically, a brief explanation of deductive logic should help them separate valid conclusions from popular guesswork.

Systems Thinking

Although not a formal part of the Austrian method, **systems thinking** plays an essential role in the formulation of their principles and theories.

In the simplest terms **systems thinking** acknowledges that all processes have some connection with all other processes. Recognizing that fact opens the mind to seeing flawed conclusions that don’t acknowledge connections and feedback loops.

General Semantics

General Semantics is the most difficult to describe of these tools in a single sentence. For this brief description, GS has to do with what I refer to as errors of abstraction and aggregation. Many descriptions in the field of economics combine units that cannot be combined.

Economic Fundamentals

After I have described what I refer to as thinking tools, I will go through a brief description of economic fundamentals. By fundamentals, I mean subjects easily understood by anyone who buys anything from any source.

Conclusion

After making an informal survey of online publications, video presentations, and publications in other formats, I have concluded that you, my reader, do not need a series of articles that add to widespread confusion. I want to work with you to develop precise language and clear thinking about subjects that affect your everyday life.

I look forward to our conversations in the future.
